General Medicine

This Department started functioning with the beginning of the Hospital and is caring for all types of Medical illnesses. We have a regular OP Department including casualty. In the inpatient services, we have facilities for ICU, ICCU, Ordinary & General wards admissions and management. Emergencies are immediately cared for and wherever required assisted ventilation and resuscitation measures are undertaken. Adequate arrangements are made for the care of unconscious and seriously ill patients. Apart from General Medicine emergencies, we deal with emergencies in respiratory diseases & snakebite. Regularly, we see in the OP cases of Fever, Breathlessness, Cough, Chest pain and Oedema, Jaundice, Abdominal pain, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Headache, Giddiness, Vertigo, Fatigue and Loss of Consciousness. Many patients come with multiple system involvements. After preliminary examination, necessary investigations are done. Where ever a diagnosis is reached and can be managed as OP are disposed off. Some are given review appointments. Those who require In-Patient treatment are admitted and follow-up done. We take regular ward rounds with full staff and necessary changes are made in the treatment. In addition casualty officers are also called in for emergency attention. Emergency calls are attended immediately. For patient requiring opinion of other specialists cross-consultations are made, their opinion are collected and wherever required problems are discussed with concerned consultants and patients management planned. In addition, senior staffs take 24hrs. call duties. Under the supervision of this department, specialty clinics are conducted on Diabetics, Neuropathy and Institutional check-up. We also conduct camps in rural areas. We have a fully equipped laboratory services and blood bank working always.
