In the Pathology Department, specially trained staff,
using the most advanced equipment, perform a wide variety
of tests for both inpatients and outpatients 24 hours
a day, seven days a week. The analysis of blood, urine,
and body fluids is conducted in the Hematology and Biochemistry
laboratories, while the search for microbial and parasitic
organisms is performed in the Microbiology laboratories.
Surgical Pathology provides the diagnosis of surgically
removed tissues; Cyto-pathology diagnoses cells obtained
from nonsurgical procedures such as Pap smears and fine-needle
aspiration biopsies of tumours of the neck and breast.
Immuno-histo chemistry, Flow Cytometry, and Molecular
Pathology are used routinely in the diagnosis of specific
cancers and leukemias.
